AI-detector flags in fuel-economy and modding posts

Question for fuel-economy, vehicle-efficiency, and eco-modding posts.

If a fuel-economy log, aero mod write-up, coastdown explanation, instrumentation note, or eco-driving report gets flagged by an AI text detector, how much should that affect how the community reads it?

I would treat the detector result as a weak review cue, not proof. For EcoModder-style posts, the useful checks are more concrete:

- does the post name the vehicle, engine, drivetrain, tire, route, weather, speed, fuel, instrumentation, or test method?
- are baseline data, repeatability limits, and measurement uncertainty described clearly?
- does it separate a tested result from a guess or generic efficiency claim?
- does it avoid generic automotive marketing, backlink-only eco claims, unrelated green-tech product pitches, and unsafe mod guidance?
- does the post stand without an external click?
- does it preserve safety and legal context for public-road testing or modifications?
- are false positives and false negatives treated as normal detector limitations?

Polished or template-like writing can be flagged even when a member wrote it, and a low score does not prove the efficiency claim is measured or safe. I would still rely on normal community review: vehicle context, test method, data, repeatability, and safety boundaries.

Disclosure: I work on a related text-review workflow, but I am not linking or naming it here. I am asking about EcoModder forum review practice, not recommending a tool.

For fuel-economy and vehicle-efficiency posts, should AI-detector flags be used only as a moderation clue, or are data, test method, and vehicle context enough to judge quality?

An interesting concept. Do you have an example? Does it take one to know one?

I've mostly given up reporting posts. I don't think anybody that can delete posts still comes here. I've asked for moderator privileges, but got no answer.

Maybe I've reported posts you've never seen, because I've seen they go away overnight at least 80% of the time.

That's good that someone is still around. I've reported posts that never got deleted. Maybe eventually, after I stopped checking?

I still drop by every once in a while, when I have a spare moment (like now, while I'm waiting for homemade hamburger buns to bake). When I check in, I try to glance through each subforum at least and delete anything spam-ish. I just checked and I haven't got a "reported post" email since March 2024, not sure why they stopped coming to me.
