"Air Multiplier" on car
 

Hi all,

Would it be possible to integrate something like the "Dyson Air Multiplier" into a car design?

For example, air coming into vents on the sides of the car would be pushed out openings in the back, helping to propel the car forward.

Ok, they say more air moved through the ring than pumped in through
the base...
But who's to know?
What volume/pressure of air is being moved/pumped through the base?
It's the "pumped" thing... that requires energy,
and there has to be losses... no free lunch and all that.
How much energy in?

What next, Dyson's Perpetual Motion Barbecue Rotisserie?

$260 buys a lot of cheaper fans. The design is very slick, and nothing new - there are such things as venturi air circulators in industrial applications, but nobody's ever made one into a desktop fan.

Somebody will buy it. They're willing to shell out $400 for the Bose desktop radio, somebody's bound to have enough money to think this is a smart investment.

I have a great desktop fan. Big, black, cast iron body, gaps in the grille so big a kid could stick his whole hand in there (and let that be a lesson to him!). It's about 50 years old, cost me $30 and about an hour and a half to refurbish back to good working, non rattly condition.

From what I understand it creates low pressure behind the fan to drawn in air (induction) and then the flow of the air out brings in more (entrainment). I'm not sure if the second part would help create force but the first might.

If not a car, then what about a hovercraft powered by a "bladeless fan"? ;)

I've heard about dyson's fans in 2009, i totally love the design, but they really have a terrible high price!! They just seemed really cool. Obviously I wouldn't buy one unless I was so rich rich that $500 seemed like 5 cents to me. 2 years pasts, and these Dyson fans are still with high price, that's why people now would like to choose cheap alternatives from China. You'll see lots of online site like: SpeMall.com sale these bladeless fans with cheap price, and they're actually seems not bad! So, will you buy a Dyson fan(for hundreds) or a similar fan from China(for just tens of USD?)?
