Airflow through an air compressor valve

I am working on refurbishing an air compressor that was abused and left in a snowbank all winter.

I am trying to reduce restriction as much as possible.
It is rated at 25 cfm. I did some porting on the head, but I am stuck on the valves. They are disk valves and only have about .065 of lift and are 1.3" in diameter. This does not allow much flow, especially when the aur deadheads into a casting about .125" from the valve and has to do a right angle turn. Thats why I ported the heads. I would like to increase the lift a bit. Is anyone familiar with disk valves? Online seatching returns 0 results.

I increased the lift to .1" and ported the valves and head, so we will see what happens.:turtle:

My imagination fails me at times.

Also, cubic feet per minute (cfm) fill times, before and after would be great but tedious. Time to fill on a known volume can yield your comparison to the rated cfm.

There is no before with this project. I got it as scrap. I will be measuring the cfm when done.

If there's no pix can you wave you hands in the air while you talk?
