Amsoil Coolant Boost = Faster Warmup

Amsoil just released a engine coolant boost for sale. I'm just posting about it here, I'm not a bot.

AMSOIL DominatorŪ Coolant Boost

"Provides Effective Heat Transfer and Enhanced Corrosion Protection
Formulated with proprietary tiered surfactant technology, providing quick and effective heat transfer inside radiator and cylinder heads, which results in reduced operating temperatures, more efficient operation, increased horsepower and significantly reduced engine warm-up times in cold weather."

I'll just cut to to the warmup time they list:

Warm-up with 50/50 Antifreeze/Water Only:
30°F to 120°F: 6.3 Min.
30°F to 180°F: 11.3 Min.

Warm-up with Coolant Boost Added:

30°F to 120°F: 3.2 Min.
30°F to 180°F: 5.3 Min.

Cost is $12.05 per 16 oz bottle and it's also supposed to lower running temperature. I haven't tried it yet, but I'd like to see how it effects my Suburban since I added the CAI.

I don't understand how it both increases cooling and shortens warm up times. Those two feats would seem to be counter productive to me.

My guess is that since it improves heat transfer, then it helps the coolant receive heat from the engine. It would also cool off faster, but does not have a way - the thermostat is closed so the coolant does not visit the radiator.

Have googled reviews on this product

Hi
Would recommend that you google reviews on amisol dominator. Very interesting reading. Some good but others report a nightmare. Reminds me of when i bought my toyota based rv. Previous owner had added dex cool to cooling system and was left with a horriable brown sludge to remove. Took weeks to finally get rid of it. Now full of toyota red antifreeze. Lessons to be learned.

Looks like Amsoil had another formulation of it which was causing problems, this post was from 2012:

Beware of Amsoil Coolant Boost!!! - Cherokee SRT8 Forum

Amsoil claims their Dominator Coolant Boost for 2016 is indeed reformulated although they're not mentioning the issues that the formula from years ago was causing:

The old formula looked like black cherry soda, the new one's bright orange. I have to wonder though what all the differences are.
