Anecdotal Evidence of 1988 Suzuki Forsa

Hi all:

A long while back, I posted about an "ambitious project to commence soon." It was a glorious 88 Suzuki Forsa (chevy sprint) from Canada, that my friend had bought on ebay for around $600. I had some grand plans, but after a while we got sick of getting cut by metal, so we called it good and left on our EPIC ROAD TRIP TO THE CENTER OF CALIFORNIA!

As you can see, we added a spot of underpan. It extended to about a foot behind the front wheels, and generally made a lot of noise because we made it out of air ducts that we unrolled and screwed to the vehicle. Somewhere in Colorado, we were going up a mountain pass and the engine became overheated, so I cut a hole in the front of it in the approximate position of the radiator. I doubt this helped, because the car had all sorts of mechanical issues.

We also added some rear wheel skirts, and removed the side mirrors. we also streamlined the windshield a little bit using silicone sealant. One police officer was so interested he pulled us over and asked us about it. Or maybe it looked like we could be carrying lots of marijuana, as we hadn't had a haircut/shower in some time due to the camping nature of the trip.

Anyway, here are a few stats:
worst mpg: 32
best mpg: 42
worst functioning component at outset of trip: carburetor
worst functioning component after 40mph accidental shift into reverse: transmission
worst functioning component after the fording of the stream: timing belt
worst functioning component upon arrival in san francisco: brakes

We sold the car to a junkyard and took a greyhound back. Some interesting people ride the greyhound.

And finally a few pictures!

Aw, you sold the car to a junkyard? Doh! You know how rare the Forsa is now?
