Hello All! Just found the site and I signed up. Between you an me, this is my first forum. I've always found forums one of the best combos of collective action and the internet, but I've never gotten around to joining in. Pardon for any sort of forum etiquette I may be unaware of. That aside, I found the site while I was shopping for a small truck. I sold my last car a few years ago and bought a sailboat to live in hoping to learn a few things. I recently moved back on land but really miss the smaller lifestyle of the boat. Camper trailers have peaked my and my girlfriend's interest as of late accompanied by contrasting thoughts of gas prices and efficiency. There must be a way. Anyway, I'm going to explore some more of this great site and a few of the doodads on the bottom of this page.

-Cheers!

Welcome... so is that moped your current ride? What's the trailer thingy attached to it?

I've done some sailboat living arrangements in the past.

Of course, landlubbing doesn't necessarily mean wretched excess and waste in your living arrangments - there are tiny apartments or houses out there. (Or RV's / trailers if you want to move around.)

Welcome to the forum

The Japanese have "micro" abodes for both sale and rent!

The moped is currently my ride- attached are the 14 2x4's that now make up my workbench at home. Good times...

The moped is something of an allegory though. In whatever given space that one has, one fills it up. You don't have to- in fact when I moved from the boat everything I owned fit into the corner of one of the rooms of the apartment. Now the apartment is full. I could get rid of the recent acquisitions, but the apartment feels wrong without them. I move everything I need to move on the moped but when I use my girlfriends car, I fill that up too. Having extra doesn't necessarily mean flexibility- more often it breeds laziness.

Having cheap gas doesn't free up ones finances to get a better made, more fuel efficient car- it makes people not think about efficiency at all.

HA! Yeah... I stand corrected. This whole site is case in point for that one. :D
