Another one sputtering at the start... (Fisker's liquid cooled battery problem)
The 2012 Karma has been called hazardous because of coolant leaks that could possibly create a dangerous electrical short and cause fires in the battery compartment. Fisker and other hybrid/EV startups could not afford missteps in their early survival existences. 2012 Fisker Karma Recalled for Fire Hazard

...that "sputtering" sound is actually coming from the ACME-fuze burning it's way towards the ACME-stick-of-dynamite that Mr. Wyley Coyote is holding in his hands (wink, wink)!

GM, Fisker, Tesla and others with their battery cooling systems may have to do more robust engineering & failure tests of their liquid cooling systems. If simple hose/clamp leaks could cause catastrophic failures, any collisions/hard damage would obviously result in electrical shorts. Nissan's (less expensive) decision w/ the Leaf, to go 'primitive' with an air-cooled system, may mean more sales for its implementation.

...and, while AIR may not always be 'clean' it is, at least for now, FREE.
