Any ideas to add to my s10/ranger/etc build

This summer i plan on buying an s10/ranger/b2500 etc that size truck 4cyl/5 speed. My first goal is for it to get 40+ mpg on the highway. I have started a list and would like for any1 to add to it, this list is assuming the truck runs as it should.

Stage 1:
*Suspension/wheels
-3/5" drop w/ wheel alignment
-lighter mooncap styled rims
-thinner tires
-low rolling resistance tires
Stage 2:
*Motor/driveline/electric
-elctric radiator fan swap
- gas mileage exhaust
-warm air intake
-5th gear swap if possible
-rear end gear swap
-low viscosity oil
-electric water pump
-deep cycle battery
-gas mileage chip
-block heater
-led lights
-aluminum driveshaft
-egr replaced/cleaned
-tune~up
-spark plugs
-oil and air filter
-max psi in tires
Stage 3:
*Aerodynamics
-passenger mirror delete with internal mirror
-driver mirror swapped to more aero design
-front air dam
-grill block
-antennal removal and hole blocked
-passenger winshield wiper removed full setup
-driver windshield wiper lower profiled and longer
-aero side skirts
-96~97 clear headlight bucket covers
-seal holes in frontal area
-mud flap removal
-smooth wheel covers
-front wheel arch gap fill
-bumpers front/rear
-rear wheel skirts
-carbon fiber hood with scoop
-hitch boat tail
Stage 4:
*Guages
-ultraguage
-vacuum guage not a cheepy
Stage 5:
*weight
-bedliner removal
-spare tire in bed mount removed
-ac removal
-remove rear seat
-plexi glass windows
-fiberglass fenders
-aftermarket speakers
-front racing seats
-sound deadening material removed
Stage 6:
*Advanced Aerodynamics
-fishtailed bed
Stage 7:
*Advanced Motor
-4 cyl diesel swap or turbo
-camshaft

any new ideas will be welcomed within reason

*Motor/driveline/electric
-5th gear swap if possible
The truck will already have a 5th gear, you mean 6th gear?

-electric water pump
I looked into this but the cost outweighs the possible gains, maybe over a very very long time it might.

-gas mileage chip
There is no real chip that will help. You can get the truck tuned

Stage 5:

-plexi glass windows
I would check on these, I know in some places they aren't legal on the road.

For the ease of electronics and such, i would look for a 98-03 S10. Easier to tune, ultragauge/scangauge works. Much easier for future mods.

I'm contemplating getting an underdrive pulley set up. That + the removal of the clutch fan would make it easier to rev.

Also thinking about ditching the A/C in favor of ventilated seats. I won't make the decision until i test them out.

I plan on getting a T56 6 speed transmission to be swapped in. I do all city driving, so i can get shorter gears but still be able to cruise.

i do not plan on a 6th gear i mean putting a new gear to make the rpms lower at highway speeds

water pump im just trying to do everything i can it may not happen but shows i thought about the idea already

with a chip u never know 1 might come out

plexi glass windows im pretty sure are legal in my state due to how weak the inspection is here

forgot about under drive pulley adding to my list

im not spending money on a 6 speed when i will probably upgrade to a Colorado and start over by the time i think about it

I would look at craigslist or S10 forums for people selling rear ends. They usually swap them out in favor of a rear end with 3.42 gears so you could probably get it for next to nothing.

I'm in the same boat, I'm considering it also, though I don't know if i should wait till i swap engines or not. If you can find other justifications for swapping it in (your old one crapped out, looking to squeeze every bit of horsepower, want to make it rev quicker) then it may be easier to bite the bullet of the price.

The only chips that are out are "performance" ones, which all they do is dump more fuel into the vehicle. The closest thing to a chip is a mail order tune from a place like wait4me or pcmforless.

I forgot about that so you could be fine with it.

I forgot to add, if you're going to be doing a lot of electrical changes/ additions to the S10, look into upgrading the Big Three Wiring which will help supply the electrical demands

My vote is for S/10 2.2L 5spd manual. I've been able to get 40+ mpg highway drive cycle with engine mods only. Also was able to up rear wheel hp from 89to 126.
