i have a 2005 prius,, and have looked around for tire info,, i have read the article on the lrr prius tire test and know that the michilen energy saver a/s took top honers, with the ecopia ep100 coming in second.,,but that test is years old. and i know the energy savers come with low or no milage warrenty,,, just looking for the best tires to get for milage and longevity. im on the last few months of my komos that were on car when i bought it. thanks.

There's this thread on PriusChat by F8L that he keeps fairly up to date (last updated 6 months ago). I would go with the Energy Savers if you can afford them, but the Ecopias sound like they are fine, too.

Bridgestone no longer sells the EP100s here (very sad, I had a set and loved them). They've been replaced with the EP422s. That is what I would buy right now if I had to purchase a set of tires.

how close in performance are the ep422,s to the ep 100? doax?

I think they handle a little better, but the fuel economy is a little worse.

I have my doubts that this will work / work well on a Prius. It has a CVT and as soon as you're off idle your engine is already at optimal load. Going to a larger tire would only help during times where part throttle is needed which really isn't that often in the Prius. I think the added weight would counteract the benefit as well as has been seen in the Prius with 17" wheels thread here:
