Schwinn Hybrid bicycles

I see Schwinn has three Hybrid bicycles listed on their site. They are brushless motor hubs on the front wheel.

Stylish alloy frame with integrated rear rack.

21-speed Shimano drivetrain for accurate shifting performance.

Comfort-enhancing suspension fork and seatpost.

Equipped for commuting; rack, fenders & bell.

Long range – Hi-tech patent-pending lithium polymer battery is the lightest and most durable on the market. One charge will last approximately 60 miles(Depending on user weight, climate and terrain).

Plug n’ Drive – The lithium polymer battery is easily removed for recharging due to our Plug n’ Drive system. There are no wires connected to this system.

Lightweight – Schwinn Electric bikes set a new benchmark for electric bikes. Frame materials are aluminum while the electric drivetrain weighs in at about 10 lbs.

Hybrid – Ride Schwinn Electric bikes as a conventional bike or as electric bikes.

Fast recharge – Our proprietary battery charges fully in less than 4 hours and provides 100% power to the motor until the point when the battery is fully depleted.

Internal electric cable routing – Clean looks and added protection.

Easy wheel change – The front wheel can be disconnected without dealing with cumbersome wires

At $1900, it sure ain't cheap for something probably made in China and it doesn't even have regenerative brakes but it could make a bike practical transportation where it's hilly and you have to arrive at work no smelling like a locker room.

I have read that it is not a very useful feature on a bicycle due to the fact you don't travel like you do in a car. In other words you would not gain very much going from one stop light to the next since you quit pedaling in due time just as a matter of saving muscle energy. You don't do jack rabbit starts and then hard braking at the next light. Down hills that require braking would benefit but maybe that is not a common enough occurrence with most people's riding to warrant the extra weight and expense.?

I was thinking the same thing when I asked. If you ever question what technique to use in a car, go try them on a bicycle and you can probably get your answer
