Anyway to keep insights engine off without pushing clutch? (FAS mod not working)
So my little bro and I used the coil kill method to install a kill-switch in my insight. The problem is, unless I physically hold in the clutch, or keep my Calpod switch on, the engine just immediately restarts. This is annoying and would like some input.
Also, 50-75% of the time, the motor will lug horribly at 150 - 300rpmish when I try to kill the engine. I'm using a light switch atm to kill the motor so it's not like I'm not holding the button down long enough. |
Have you tried putting it in neutral?

Mike Dabrowski, from IC fame, used to sell a FAS board for the Insight. I have one installed in mine and it works great.
Don't know if he still has any though. Jim. |

From my extremely limited knowledge of kill switches, but a higher knowledge of flashlight switches, I can tell you that it might be the switch that you are using. Flashlight switches are not good (I know this because I have owned many flashlights and they sometimes flicker because of the switch).
You might want to invest $1-3 in a kill switch from Radio Shack. |
I figured this out ages ago. You can't kill the engine above 19mph without having the clutch pushed in. No exceptions. Since this thread I have upgraded to a different kill method involving killing the injectors. I posted a thread in the DIY section.
