Anyway to keep insights engine off without pushing clutch? (FAS mod not working)

So my little bro and I used the coil kill method to install a kill-switch in my insight. The problem is, unless I physically hold in the clutch, or keep my Calpod switch on, the engine just immediately restarts. This is annoying and would like some input.

Also, 50-75% of the time, the motor will lug horribly at 150 - 300rpmish when I try to kill the engine. I'm using a light switch atm to kill the motor so it's not like I'm not holding the button down long enough.

Have you tried putting it in neutral?

Of course, the engine automatically restarts when you put it in gear.

Mike Dabrowski, from IC fame, used to sell a FAS board for the Insight. I have one installed in mine and it works great.

Don't know if he still has any though.

Jim.

I dont want to spend any money on any of these ecomods, I don't have any money to spend in the first place :P.

Attached is a diagram of my kill switch.

I'm confused, isn't that fine/what you would want to happen? Put it in neutral, kill engine, coast to stop/lower end of glide speed, put it in gear to accelerate from stop/pulse.

From my extremely limited knowledge of kill switches, but a higher knowledge of flashlight switches, I can tell you that it might be the switch that you are using. Flashlight switches are not good (I know this because I have owned many flashlights and they sometimes flicker because of the switch).

You might want to invest $1-3 in a kill switch from Radio Shack.

I figured this out ages ago. You can't kill the engine above 19mph without having the clutch pushed in. No exceptions. Since this thread I have upgraded to a different kill method involving killing the injectors. I posted a thread in the DIY section.
