Might be getting a ComutaCar

Hey Everyone I found a ComutaCar in my area for sale the other day! everything works, just had brakes fixed, and new wheels and tires put on. The body is in ok shape with some cracks and the bumpers are pretty shot. It is at an interstate battery shop and they are gonna throw batteries in it as well but I think they are gonna be used batts so I dont know about their life. They are asking $1000 for it and if I can somehow find a thousand dollars Im gonna pick it up.

I've been surfing the net learning all I can about these things so If I do get it Ill know kinda what Im doing.

If any of you has any more info/links/advice that would help that would be awesome.

Sounds like a good find! As long as they batteries are reasonably good, they should last for a while as you get used to driving, etc. A used pack at first may be better for learning anyways - if you damage the pack by driving to dead batteries, overcharging, leaving it uncharged, etc. it won't be too expensive of a lesson!

If you need any help with the C-car, I will be glad to help. There are a few of us here, so ask away!

Go for it!

Those are fun little cars!

Also, make sure to join the C-Cars Yahoo Group. That's where all the cool kids hang out!

C-Car : A support group for owners of Citicar, Comutacar, and Comutavan electric vehicles.

PS: For anyone looking to buy a Citicar, they do go up for sale fairly often through the Citicar Group.

PakTrakr gauge is a great investment for battery life, that is what I have, if they have the wrong tires on there you can get the right ones from a NEV dealer, other then that $1,000 sounds like a great deal.

still hoping

still hoping to get the car. I have a commute to school of about 25 miles round trip. I was wondering what is the average range for one of these is with fresh batteries. Is a 30 mile range on these cars fairly easy/cheap to obtain?

It depends on how fast you drive and what DOD you are willing to risk.

Normally though you should be able to eek out 30miles (or more), its best to have at least an hour stop in the middle. You also would need decent 6v golf cart batteries.

Also driving slowly (aka in 2nd speed) and keeping everything lined up and NOT dragging is quite important to add range.

Good Luck
Ryan

max spped will probably be 30-35mph. its about a 12 mile trip to school basically all downhill and I am there for 3 hours of classes and then home again is all uphill, the elevation gain is not that much though

Probably will be fine for the range... I drive about 4 miles to work, come home and cruise town afterwards without to much worry.

There is no Comuta-Car on that top 10 list... the yellow is similar though.
