I had all our IRA 100% in the market up until 2 months ago so I didn't miss out at all last year. Post IPO buying a company stock can still help the company assuming they own a good share of their own stock. Certainly a big short push like this is going to hurt the company. Maybe you get enough people to push back on the short like GameStop and really make some money. The short game has gotten to be the dangerous investment, certainly more so than investing in anything EV.

Did you see they are closer to their new plant?

Friends don't let friends use robinhood.

Just use e-trade, or fidelity if you're into options (ie, a gambler). Robinhood is garbage.

If this does push this stock into a slide, I'll be buying some.

They have their plans set on 50,000 per year upon completion of the new production facility.

Was it that long ago? Have you been replaced by an identical copy?

I provided link at #843 that provides some background, the family's background and such. People get extra points from me just for living in a three-colored Bungalow (pic in the article).

Investing in a startup is MUCH different than investing in something like a S&P 500 index. Exponentially different levels of risk.

Especially when it's vehicle manufacturing.

Well I did $1000 for now. It's going to take until next week to get the rest of the Suburban sale money into that trading account so we'll see where it is next week. $3000 I can afford to lose, but the chances of it going to zero in the next year or two is pretty low. Maybe it will still just be $3000 but that's all it's been sitting on the dresser the last 6 months too.

My interest was in meeting you, and seeing a cool car was a bonus. The car was fun and the factory tour interesting, but I'm not letting my feelings about that experience get in the way of the cold facts; that trikes don't sell well, production volume is miniscule, and launching a successful automotive manufacturing company is nearly impossible, especially in a world where bending metal into vehicles isn't as valuable as Big Data, AI, or proprietary technology.

If manufacturing EV trikes becomes profitable, all the other big players will quickly offer their own designs. I just can't see FUV being a wise long position.

I still think the point of the trike design is to make it stable but avoid being a car. If it were a car it would have to be as expensive as anything else anybody is making EV. If it had 2 wheels it would just be an electric motorcycle which IMO has an even narrower following and plenty of other makers in the game already. So what will kill the Arcimoto if anything will be the government getting involved and moving 3 wheelers into car category. That may happen but I don't think it will unless there are a ton of them on the road getting in accidents and killing their occupants.

The other company doing this is Vanderhall. Their stuff is beautiful but their EV version is $35,000, and the gas $26-36k. That's a limited market I would say, but if Arcimoto can get it down to $15,000 or at least keep it where it is now, I think they can sell a bunch. Certainly use that 50,000 a year planned factory capacity.

Cold facts are hard?

It's a provable fact that I was posting about a replacement for the Messerschmitt KR-200 in 2013.

That's back in the SRK era when they were selling for $41,000.

To get to the $10K price point they will have to ditch the tubular upper frame for aluminum castings. The computer gaming roots of Arcimoto [IMHO] give it an advantage over your established players. Arcimoto is autonomous ready for when the time is right.

The market is evolving -- the gig economy and hyper-efficiency.
