Toshiba enters the battery race.

A new battery that can be recharged to 90 percent capacity in under five minutes and lasts 10 years will start shipping in March, Toshiba Corp. announced this week, hailing it as "a new energy solution" for cleaner transportation.

This should help the EV market unless they are to pricey. Does anyone know If you had a fold out solar panel on a car could would it recharge this fairly quickly.?

A solar panel can only put X amount of energy into a battery in a certian amount of time, the problem with EV solar charging is that EV's can use X amount of energy in NO TIME. EV's suck down huge amounts of electricity when compared to what PV panels can produce.

So in short, yes a fold down solar panel could charge an EV, it would just take a month or so to reach a full charge. That or you'd have to have a huge array of solar panels to recharge it in any reasonable amount of time.

This is doubly true for the "quick charging" batteries because they are generally sucking down enormous amounts of power (both voltage and amperage) during their short recharge cycle.

OR...

You use a really, really efficient EV, like an electric scooter or e-bike.
