The Automotive X PRIZE is going on now at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) in Brooklyn, MI.

The Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE, a multi-million dollar competition designed to inspire a new generation of viable, production-capable, and super fuel-efficient vehicles that exceed 100 MPGe (miles per gallon or its energy equivalent).

Yea! It is cool that this is finally underway. Some are ragtag shade tree guys (Illuminati), and some are (relatively) well financed (Edison2 and Aptera).

Almost all had glitches of one sort or another today. Which is not too surprising, though Aptera was knocking down cones in the accident avoidance test -- 40 tries to get it right, finally... Something is not quite right? FVT should have just arrived today, hopefully.

Anyone nice and close to that?

It would be fantastic to get a couple of Ecomodder Field Reporters out there with some web cams and still cameras and report back through the forum.

Two weeks ago, I was at an EV Recharging Station grand opening, and there were NO TV crews there. I think my little video camera was the only coverage of it. (And I STILL have to edit the video!)

The X-Prize is a big deal, the more coverage we can get on it, the better!
