just broke 40mpg on this tank today!

Highest tank milage yet was 622 miles! 42.83 MPG!!!!

This is a bone stock 99 accord with a 2.3 5speed. Only thing I changed was airing up the tires to 42 psi. I think the wonderful weather also played a big part in it. it's been not humid and in the 80s here.

Also is there anyway to verify my claims? I only ask because my average was pretty steady at 39.xxx then this tank it's 42.83? Just seems like a bit to high of a jump for just airing up tires.

Airing up the tyres decreases their rolling resistence.

Congrats. I'd say the weather is a good contributor combined with the tires. Perhaps favorable tail winds too?

.

Increasing air pressure will reduce rolling resistance. This can improve
fuel mileage by up to 10%.

You gained 9%.

There's been more wind prior due to storms rolling through. It's been calm sunny and lower humidity.

Didn't know you could see that kind of increase from just airing up tires. AWESOME!

Thanks!

you know that might be right. I know one trip home from work I averaged 50.4MPG and that is way higher than normal so you might be correct.

Part of the increase could be due to Summer fuel, which just hit the fuel stations in the last month. I had 6 consecutive fill-ups in the 30.xx MPG range, and Monday morning's fill-up was 32.43 MPG. I was only expecting it to be in the 31's. The weather and seasonal fuel blends make a noticeable difference in MPG to those who would notice it. (ecomodders)
And a belated "Welcome aboard!"

Your improvement from increased tire pressure is right in line with others' experiences.

Nice results, solid 40s from a midsize. Well done.
