Bellon Voltage Stabilizer Gas Saver ? what?
I happened to run across this today for the first time on Ebay.
link: ( I can't post links yet ) or just search ebay for Bellon voltage stabilizer I did a search on here, but came up with nothing. After looking into this a little I still don't have a handle on how it would work to actually save any fuel. So far my best guess is that it's a quick reacting capacitor that might cut down on some voltage fluctuations. I don't think I've ever had a situation where the voltage fluctuation was so bad as to cause a reduction in fuel economy, so I naturally question this ability of the product. I have used several models of the Jacobs Accuvolt (voltage regulator) in drag racing applications with great success, and will continue to use them, but they are for specific functions and applications, and quite energy inefficient I might add. Every ECM and PCM I've looked into has algorithms to specifically accommodate for voltage changes in the system. It's hard for me to imagine how this device could improve fuel economy. That's why I wanted to ask here to get more input before I dismiss the idea. Does anyone here have any experience or facts to share about this product? |

5 volt reference - 7 volt reference - elevated ground
most if not all systems on most if not all cars
do not use the system voltage for power supply s to the critical sensors whose precise input is needed to control things there is a separate regulated 5 volt or 7 volt power supply to MAF TPS CTS IAT and many others so what ever hash may be present on the 12 volt positive supply simply gets chopped off at 5 or 7 volts . no hash gets through , simple and effective . some cars do the same on the ground side , early to mid 1990s 02 sensors ground on european cars comes to mind as an example , they have elevated ground to critical sensors , for the same reason . so that gizmo is as useless as mudflaps on a sledge hammer to you , but great for the seller , as it's sales can help to line his pockets with your money . |
