Ben Nelson at it again - OEM Ford Ranger EV converted to lithium

Ben has a bunch of videos about his recent acquisition, an OEM Ford Ranger electric vehicle. This video goes over his quick conversion to lithium, but he has a bunch more on his channel. Check them out (and click his ads to help him out) for some good content.

100 miles on a charge is pretty great. (And I clicked through three ads and actually am gonna go read one of the solar pitches... why not?)

Hmmm . . . wonder if it would tow my boat?

Tow your boat: YUP, or at least mine can, but I have 10 forward speeds. I can pull whatever the diesel F250 can (for a while). However, 100 mile range, I am jealous but he has 3X my capacity. Otoh, he was WAAAY over load capacity with the FLA, probably still is with the new ones.

That would certainly beat the 10-ish mpg my Chevy C3500 gets!

Unfortunately I live in the middle of the state and I only like to fish in salt water, so it means an almost 50 mile one-way trip just to hit the Gandy boat ramp on the east side of Tampa Bay from my house.

I wonder what the EV range would drop to towing 2-1/2 tons on the highway?

I agree. 100 miles makes that a very usable vehicle. As he mentions in the video, the I-MIEV only has about 65 miles of range.

100-miles

I think that, back in the day of the EV1,the numbers-crunchers figured commuters only needed 47-miles range/day.100 miles for me would be sure luxury! And I'm wind-powered,so it'd be zero-carbon.:D
Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tow, tow, tow your boat, gently to the stream!

I’ve been eyeing those Valence batteries for years, always wanted a u24-12xp but have never tfound them.

The 27 series are all but useless because of their dimensions (unless I could turn them on the side)

At $300 a piece still pretty pricey for used tech
