Best Amsoil Bearing Grease?
I have 2 different tubes of Amsoil wheel bearing grease.... Their racing grease (GC wheel bearing performance) and their regular synthetic multi-purpose grease NLGI #2 (in the gray and red tube).... Has anybody had a ton of experience with either one or both? It's for 2 cars, my wife's 02 Accord 4A right now, and my 97 metro 3/5 later on.... I just want the least rolling resistance.... If I have to replace the grease in 2 years its not a big deal... And I have both greases already just which should I use both each? Thank you....

I think it doesn't matter. I don't have experience with Amsoil but I'd imagine the "racing" grease can tolerate higher temps- irrelevant for your use, but then it won't hurt anything either.
Bearing drag is considered negligible and is ignored in performance calculations. Once upon a time I converted one of my Tempo's rear hubs to run in gear oil instead of being packed with grease. It sure did spin nicer than the one on the other side when the car was jacked up in the air, but any fuel economy improvement was undetectable. The caplug I used to modify the stock dust cap failed after 10 or so years so I switched it back to regular grease. |
