Best trip ever
Just went into and around town 45.2 MPGs. My best trip yet! It was just over 25 miles, but just like the usual trips I make and in the same area. So I know now I should be able to break 40 MPG tank average fairly easily, as long as I can stay focused. Its hard because I like to drive fast and I can afford $4 gas. Hypermiling for me is more about decreasing our dependency on foreign countries, but thats another post. Congrats to me!

thats pretty impressive, especially with a car like the RSX. god that must be fun to drive

Awesome; what techniques did you use?

rsx2002,
Congrats! I agree with you. I don't hypermile out of cost at all. For me its about Efficiency, financing BOTH sides of the current war, and the environment. Another thread indeed. LarryRose11 |
Thanks guys. Ive been thinking that I have actually been accelerating too slowly. causing me to stay in lower gears too long. So today I just tried to take off a little faster. Nothing crazy, still nice and even (and slow) but by the time I hit 35 I can get into 5th gear as long im not going up hill. Ive also been trying to add some more P&Ging. I did about 30 more miles of driving today. Alot of short trips but my daily MPG is still 42.6. Too bad im getting on a roll in the middle of a subpar tank :o

Hey better to start sooner than later! :D I know what you mean about slow accels -- have you tried to look for your BSFC? I'm trying to get in the habit of putting more load and getting out of those lower gears faster. More often than not, I find myself getting my MPGs back in DFCO/n-coasts up to stops.

No I havent been able to find my sweet spot. The only time my engine is steady is when im coasting. TOO MANY HILLS! My routes are not FE friendly at all.
