New tire question

Looking at new tires for my car.

The tires I'm looking at are these....
Continental*PureContact with EcoPlus Technology

The question I have is, what do you think would be the better option. 205 50r17, which will be a little narrower but also shorter, or 215 55r17, which will be slightly wider, but will lower RPM because it is taller

how much time do you spend at 'cruising'?
how much time in stop and go?

taller is better in my opinion

Taller is usually better.

Most of my drive is cruising, on top of plenty of road trips

Then you go taller, for gearing advantage. The extra rotational mass will matter less in cruising than it does in stop/go at lower speeds.

I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

Thanks everyone. I ended up going with a different tire all together after reading the reviews. Should still be one designed for better fuel economy, and also 205 55r17. Best of both worlds in my opinion
