'Big Daddy' wants the record again!
 

Legendary Don 'Big Daddy' Garlits set the first 200mph in the quarter-mile more than fifty years ago, now the 82 year old drag strip legend wants to also own the first 200 mph 1/4 mile record in an EV! His race car named 'Swamp Rat 37' has an awesome 1500 kW lithium-ion battery array. Will miss that supercharger whine, nitrous revs, throaty air ingestion and blow torch exhausts. We'll still have the burnouts but just don't blow those fuses, Don!

I'm rooting for him! They tested last week to something like 174 mph. They're still testing and shaking it down.

don was "The Man" and watched him many times. loved the front wheel covers, until they blew off.

I'm confident that Garlits is well aware that a motorcycle already set that record, since he is teamed up with Shawn Lawless who owns that motorcycle and other record holding drag EVs.

I would of thought they did 200mph in a electric car already , who knew.
looks like Big Daddy will straighten out this issue - Good to see him embracing technology when so many gear heads are repelled or snicker at the electric cars.

Keep in mind, this is in a 1/4 mile. The Buckeye Bullet has gone 314mph at Bonneville.

200mph in 1/4 mile takes an incredible amount of power. At 1500 kW, that's roughly equivalent to 2000 hp!
