Black Box/Murphy Coil for Lowering Elec Consumption
 

Hey guys,
I remember seeing some stuff regarding a black box you simply plugged in to a household outlet and eureka!; your electricity consumption was dramatically reduced. I tried to look these up earlier and couldn't find much. I did find a forum in which someone referred to the device as a "murphy coil". This of course peaked my curiosity, but also yielded little in terms of internet searches. Anybody know what the deal is with this?

I believe most are attempts to sell power factor correction gear to home owners.
With out proper survey and application of power factor correction capacitors, these capacitors will cause you to use more power.

Read up on power factor correction, some of the new meters are counting power consumed at lower power factor.
