Blown fuse IDK what its for/already googled, no results

Ok I was checking all my fuses for any blown, there is one blown but IDK what its for and dont have another "10" fuse to replace it with...

The description on the map says

" B/U LP Switch
EBL SW Clutch Switch"

Is that back up lamp switch? I have no idea haha

Can anyone decode this for me?

Christ 03-28-2010 02:58 PM

back up lamps and EBL(?) and clutch start interlock (if applicable).

Turn your key on, set the parking brake, and put your car in reverse (do not start it). See if your reverse lamps are on.

RandomFact314 03-28-2010 03:04 PM

Yeah no back up lights... Now to figure out what EBL is so I know what else is not working

Christ 03-28-2010 03:05 PM

Electronic (something? Brake?) lockout?

RandomFact314 03-28-2010 03:05 PM

EBL- Emergency Brake Light???????? Possibly?

Christ 03-28-2010 03:07 PM

Sure. Raise your parking brake and tell me if the light comes on.

RandomFact314 03-28-2010 03:08 PM

I also found this.... The fuse is fuse #7....:

the locks fuse is fuse #7, a 10 amp fuse.

I think I figured it out! Here:

Electric Back Light, it's the heated rear window, in glass terms a window is referred to as a light

----This sounds correct b/c my rear window defrost has been out for about a 1/2 year, which means I have not had back up lights for a 1/2 year OMG...

Check to make sure your backup lights don't have water in the lens that is causing the short that is blowing your fuse.

Could also be the wrong bulb in one of the sockets.

Otherwise it might just blow another fuse.

Mech

I will definantly cheack it out b/c I had some of the light not work on the car before I bought it and I made the guys who owned the car replace all the ones not working (and a tire, and the plug wire, and many other things)

The plug wire they repaced was for another car and rusted that spark plug all to hell so I believe they would do something stupid like that too... :o

Heh, so true. Automotive industry is almost as bad as the militry for acronyms. rofl

RandomFact314 04-01-2010 09:27 PM

So I got another fuse and the rear window defrost DID work but then a day (or less) later the fuse was blown again. I think that its the back up lights, one is probably a different size bulb than its suppose to have...

Been sick lately so have not had a change to check out the bulbs

Update

Alright, I finally looked at my reverse lights, one of them WERE burnt out, it was wierd b/c the string part was not broken off like most lights that are blown but it did have burn in it, I replaced both bulbs and replaced the fuse once again, hopefully the bulb wont burn out again. :p
