Ferrari is doing something similar,although it's based upon rotor temp,and will open or close the inlet as brake cooling dictates.

"Only" 0.26 for all their tricks? Mercedes E class (and B class) are quoted at 0.24 with none of that. I also doubt the effectiveness of any air manipulation below the wheel centreline.
