Testing Gen1 Insight batteries?

Wife is coming up on needing a new car so I was thinking that instead of buying her a used car that I could give her my Cobalt XFE and possibly buy a Gen1 Insight for myself. Thing that I'm concerned about is that batteries. Is there a way to get the batteries tested before buying? __________________ Lifetime mpg 2012 mpg
