Hey guys,

I thought it might be cool to begin a thread devoted to books relevant to interests similar to that of our own.

I'll start:

Tom Vanderbuilt's "Traffic: Why we Drive The Way We Do"

This book gets to the heart of the matter. It has made me a better driver, who is ultimately more informed about the behavior of people on the road and the parameters of the driving world in general.

Aerodynamics of road vehicles by Wolf-Heinrich Hucho.

Everything you need to know about car aerodynamics, and more.

+1, maybe we need a dedicated LIBRARY thread into which 'recommended' books can be listed!?!?

I have read the Traffic book from the Portland area library system. Good stuff!

At the Portland swap meet this year which pretty much is 90% 50's to 70's hotrods, OEM's, and 10% OTHER; I like to look for bargain basement priced interesting used car books.

I picked up a $5 paperback: How to get more miles per gallon! 104 pages of text relating 282 tips. It's an old book, (1978) so basically it mostly has to do w cars w carbs, but it is still useful.

The author is Robert Sikorsky. The Library of Congress Catalog Card # is 78-3973

The better one by the same author is:

DRIVE IT FOREVER

which first came out in the late 1970's IIRC. I have read it a half-dozen times or more since then (thru early 90's), given it away, copied it, etc. A real help getting started (past magazine articles) back in the 1970's.

Both books may be slightly out-of-date or contain errors, but are written in an easy to remember style. A common sense approach.

I'm on chapter 4 currently and I've got to tell you, this is a great book. It's incredibly easy to read and very interesting.
