Random Geo Storm ICE/DC idea

Y'all up for some random idea that could work, but I have no clue if it would?

Recently, I came across several junky Geo Storms that would probably be for sale if asked. So I started contemplating what could be done with one. With the 1.6L four cylinder, and 5 speed manual trans, EPA says the 1990 Storm got 33 highway MPG, 26 in the city. But what if....

The rear track width of the Geo Storm is 55.2". The rear axle of a first generation Geo Tracker is 55.1". Maybe run a DC motor directly off the UJoint, just to accelerate up to ~25MPH?

In the end, you'd have EOC, then bumpstart the ICE in 3rd gear and turn off the DC. I realize plenty of fabrication would be necessary to get the axle in there, but "what if"?
