Building a Vetter Fuel Mileage Challenge Motorcycle

Well, now it starts. So many things to consider and very little time to have it up and running. I tried to post the pictures, sorry I was not bale to figure it out. Someone will have to help the newbe. My donorcycle is a 2005 Kawasaki Eliminator 125cc, 11k and a fresh top end. I was just informed that my little diesel motor is on hold, thanks to it's China manufacturer and will be held up at least another month. So, drop back and punt! I'll just keep the motor that is in it for now and run with what i've got. I'll concentrate on striping everything off of it that is not needed, regear with new sprockets and a light chain and concentrate on the aero-fairing. Considering my options and considering a CVT and a harley 6-speed trans. Both have their pros, costs and cons. More later.

Me too.

Well think of it this way. If you can reduce the aero loads enough to make the 11hp 125 work on the freeway, when the diesel gets here it will just give you more speed, torque and about 35 more mpg.

It's a tall order, but I'm sure you'll learn tons. This will be interesting.

Open another tab and upload your pix to Photobucket.com (it's free). Once the photo is in a photobucket album, hover the cursor over it, and a list will pop up. Left click on the "IMG code" choice, and it will say "copied". Then come back to ecomodder and right click to paste the code.

Looking forward to the build.

P.S. Mods will probably move this to the Motorcycle/Scooter section?

Cool idea! i'm interested! Are there parameters you must use for this challenge? I read a forum once(maybe on here??) about a guy who made a "aero capsule" kinda like a airplane around his bike. It was cool and got amazing mpg!!

welcome to the club;). which challenge(s) are you planning to attend? I will be at the Vintage Days challenge in Ohio.
Also, how are you planning on cooling your engine? I am working on an sr185, also an air cooled single, and am currently working on my cooling ductwork. I am going to use a boat bilge fan to supply the cooling air, as well as add an oil cooler.
Good luck, and I hope to see you at the challenge.
