calculating mpg without a SG
Is using my low fuel warning light a pretty reliable starting/stopping place for calculations? I know I need a SG but not now. p.s. wouldn't you want to use different pumps so inaccurate pumps would tend to equal out?

If you can, using the same pump would be more reliable. Even if the pump is slightly off, it will be consistent and better for collecting data.
Edit: Using the gas light will be relatively consistent, but if you fill up earlier or later than it, it won't affect MPG, just distance traveled. |
I have been accused of being obtuse in the past, so I won't be offended if it happens again. I am not sure of your question. If you are NOT filling the tank there is no easy, reliable way to estimate MPG, without instrumentation. This thread has a good explanation: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ill-25263.html

got it thanks guys

Even the low fuel light can be inconsistent. I've seen it come on a gallon early when parked facing uphill.

ok so you are saying the MOST accurate start/stop point is a full tank. that makes sense.
