can a metro get 60 mpg without mods?
Yes or no?
(To mods: please don't delete w/o warning.) |
Yep.
Can a metro get 60mpg without mods while driven 65mph, or while accelerating and braking around town? Nope. |
Woops

So, to elaborate on your answer, it is possble to get 60 mpg in a metro with under $300 inmods while in the city while using hypermiling techniques.
Yes or no? Can someone else confirm? |
yes, with a 3cyl stick shift metro, no problem. Though the barest of mods will make that much easier (kill switch, mpg feedback to driver).

Search "pulse and glide" and "kill switch"
You will get 60 no problem with those two things. |
Yes.
1) You could get ~60 mpg all day long cruising (on relatively level roads) in top gear at low RPM (ie. also low road speed - say ~40ish mph). 2) Or as others have said, you can get 60 mpg in sub/urban driving if you operate the car the way a hybrid works (ie. the engine is running only during acceleration, otherwise it's off). Don't mess around with engine off techniques (a) unless you're an above average driver (aren't we all?) or (b) without practicing enough away from traffic to become proficient/second nature. But why don't you want to do mods? There are effective ones that can be done that are free or cheap. |
Are you asking in order to settle a bet?
Yes or no. |
