Cancer Free & Smoke Free Cigarette

(I wasn't sure if this would be an off-toppic tech or a lounge so i errd on side of caution)

www.SuperCig.com claims smoke-free cigarette
http://n.b5z.net/i/u/10005807/i/tecgcigswll5.jpg

This device uses a battery to light a fake cherry LED while also emitting nicotine filled vapor that is ment to quench one's cigarette craving.
The claims from the developer's website implies that the cigarette is cancer safe and directly claims the cigarette falls withing guidelines for non-smoking public area. So you now have the ability to ''Light Up'' in the no-smoking section.

supercig.com: "The cartridge contains water, propylene glycol, nicotine, and a tobacco flavor"

Wikipedia.com Propylene glycol entry:"Propylene glycol does not cause sensitization and it shows no evidence of being a carcinogen or of being genotoxic."
and their nicotine entry:
"The currently available literature indicates that nicotine, on its own, does not promote the development of cancer in healthy tissue and has no mutagenic properties."

So has anyone tried this?

if so:
1 - does it quench the urge for an 'authentic' ciggy?
2 - who owns this product? a big cig company or a startup?
3 - does it taste as bad as cigs?
4 - does the vapor dissipate easier than true cig smoke?

I switched to mini cigars about 6 months ago. I buy them on the Native American Indian reservation. so they avoid all taxes - even manufacturing tax because they are technically not a cigarette. I smoke a pack of these a day.
Before i switched from cigs to cigars i was smoking over 2 packs a day.
so i'm egar to see if this can be an alternative to true cigarettes.

Looks like it be alot cheaper. How much is a carton of cigs nowaday?

Hello -

If I was a smoker I might give them a try. Very Bladerunner/Cyberpunk IMO. But, I think normal cigs are still cheaper :

Only $99.95
Kit Includes:

1 - Smokeless Cigarette
2 - Nicotine Cartridges (equiv to 4 packs of cigarettes)
2 - 3.6V Recharge Lithium Batteries
1 - 3.6V Lithium Battery Charger
2 - Protective Tip Covers

Hmmmmm ... dig dig dig ... you can get 5 cartridges for $42+S&H. That is the same as 10 packs of cigarettes. 10 packs is the same as one carton of cigs. I think an *average* price for a 10 packs of cigs is $20. Soooooo, it's a net loss on the money front, but maybe worth it if nothing else has worked.

I hope that helps some people. I also hope it is prescription because kids would be attracted to it just for the cancer-free buzz, otherwise.

What I'm looking for is a way to kick the caffeine habit.

Honestly, the best way is to stop consuming caffeine drinks. I don't mean to state the obvious, but there isn't an easy way out. The same as with dieting, the only way to get healthy is to make a lifestyle change, not wait for the "as seen on tv" magic cure.

It is easier said then done, but right now I'd just say screw it, I'm not drinking caffeine anymore. Throw out all your coffee, soda, and tea immediately, and duke it out.

Feel horrible in the morning? Tough. Can't stay awake? Slap yourself. Like coaches used to tell me in football - have a bloody nose? Stick some mud in it...Don't wait, don't hesitate, don't feel self sympathy, just do it.

I don't think my self-help plan would be very popular, but I bet you it would work.

I like the tapered approach -- slowly get rid of the item. The failure rate of "Cold Turkey" approaches are quite high...like you said: a lifestyle change.

This is proven in "Crash Dieting". Diets generally fail to work -- when you reach the target weight, now what? Burn out tends to happen before you even have to worry about it.

The approach is moderation for food (I lost 40 lbs. with this idea). Eat what you want, just not a lot of it. Slowly taper off of caffeine until it's gone.

BUT, you have to fight that mental and physical dependence to not go overboard and "cheat" on the taper.

I'm not a Doctor -- I just play one on EcoModder :)

It worked for me. Cold turkey on snuff tobacco (after 12 years) same with the caffeine and alcohol (quit at different times). It amazing how much money these eat up. You save when you eat out and just order H2O but yes it is not easy. I had cravings with the snuff for about a year after I quit.

I just drink lots of milk. it tastes better than water (to me), and doesn't contain caffeine or added sugar (that I know of 0.o). I do drink sweet tea though from time to time. as well as soda. but at home, milk quenches the thirst, has a noticable taste, and hydrates better than soda. you could try getting caffeine free drinks. or instead of keeping like a 12pck of caffeinated soda, keep a 12pck of caffeine free and have a few caffeinated ones to slowly get off of it. cold turkey works sometimes, but for most, slowly getting off with something that tastes good as well will work more successfully.

^ You'd be surprised by the number of guys you will see in teh boys bathroom between classes spitting their dip. Its so nasty and a couple of guys i know already regret starting the habit (this is high school we are talking about).

Instead of crash dieting, I have taken up an approach of just making healthier decisions when possible and working out 2-3 times a week. It has had pretty good results within the 3 months that I started it.

I don't think that guys would be willing to use this product in public because it looks kinda feminine. But if it works it would be definitely worth it because of the health benefits from stopping the habit.

Now if you dont mind me asking, what attracted you guys to start smoking or spitting?

The same thing that got me started drinking:D I did not spit.:)

It would be interesting to see if the fake cigs would work as well as the patch.

To kind of get back to the OP. Did anyone dig up info on the company?
