Dyson EV!

Top industrial design/engineering firm and state-of-the-art vacuum cleaner brand, Dyson has declared an expansion of their business plans; going into designing and building EV and AI-equipped vehicles. Thirty years ago, founder James Dyson had drawn up ideas, concepts and engineering plans for future clean vehicles. Dyson has assembled 400 engineers working on batteries and electric motors for their EV prototypes and is actively recruiting transportation design and AI research talent. He is committing $2.7 billion dollars for a Dyson EV/AI vehicle to be testing and on the road by 2020. Compared to Tesla or Google or Apple, this one will clean up your garage too?

He has been pretty successful in his other designs.

It better be both cool and useful then. And un-Tesla like?

Lets not forget Tesla is already one step further. Instead of just a car they make a system with self driving ability and web integration. 'Ordinary' cars, even electric ones, may soon be lagging behind. Will Dyson join the band wagon?

He's spending over 2 billion on the project.
That's enough to expect something good may come of it.

From what I've seen his vacuums are loved by everyone except their owners. For one thing the plastic casings build up static charge and are effectively impossible to fully empty. Unless you go to the very top of the line they're not particularly good at preventing dust emission either. They also tend to be heavy, and of course they cost far too much. Good suction is about it.

My employer installed Dyson hand dryers in the bathrooms; they were forced to put towel dispensers back after a few weeks. They dry hands well enough but aren't particularly sanitary, plus they make puddles on the floor from water dripping off all those wet hands.

Dyson has some impressive ideas, like that sphere he built for Scotty.

Good times.

So, Dyson needs to offer dust bin vacuums?

Then even smaller vacuums to vacuum those vacuums?

I have seen people make big deals out of the dust that gets everywhere from emptying vacuums.

We do not have carpet where I live (although my roommate still vacuums her room regularly), but I always take Mom's vacuum outside to empty it.

I love my Dyson vacuum cleaner. It is light, plenty suction, battery lasts well, and I can use in on the car. I never have any bother emptying it. My wife struggles to get it back together after cleaning but I have no problem with it.
Dyson is working on solid state batteries for his car. The science and engineering is brilliant, and they are coming on in leaps and bounds.

It strays a little off-topic, but I cannot resist as I am another happy owner. I admit my vacuum cleaner was pricey, but it works for more than 15 years and it paid itself in spared paper bags we do not need anymore. Suction power is really good, and I am patient enough to wait 30 minutes until all static discharge wears out after vacuuming. Then I have no trouble to empty the bin.
