A "car and a half" design from Rimspeed

So original...

Two thoughts:
1. The 'Dock + Go' addition still doesn't look big enough to carry a 4x8 sheet of plywood (or much else for that matter)
2. Seems like if the frame of 'main car' portion were built to accept it, the extra wheels wouldn't be needed either (maybe only to get it attached, then remove the wheels)

Rear wheels charging a battery pack looks too much like a perpetual motion machine to me. Something has to make the rear wheels turn, and remember - NSTAAFL.
No such thing as a free lunch!

As long as you like the capacity, I guess it's a good thing. I'd want to be able to haul 8 foot lumber. Personally, I want a little Ranger-size pickup for that kind of stuff.

Hmmmm... the date on the story didn't say April 1.

Would the concept still work with a muffler delete (ICE powered versions; perhaps the electrics can have artificially generated V8 sounds playing through 50,000 watt subwoofers) 8" lift, mudders, and chrome balls hanging under the back bumper? If not, they will never penetrate the Merican pickup market segment.

Being so small, it's going to need a bumper sticker indicating that the drivers ability to satisfy their matrimonial obligations is satisfactory.

One thing that they got right was the Kamm-ish angle of the roof of the add-on:thumbup:

From what I read about Rimspeed, the company is known for showing off far-out ideas and prototypes at car shows, then never producing them...

Didn't you read that this car add-on comes standard with an extension for the owner's -ahem-?

Here's the fun part: You can attatch more than one extension. Just stack them! The first extra axle turns the car into a perpetual motion machine, while each additional axle nets positive energy!;)
