Car Won't Start While Moving in Neutral Any Ideas?

My 89 Pontiac Grand Prix won't start while moving in neutral. In the driveway it will start in Park or Neutral with or without the brake pedal pushed and if the car is just barely moving it will start in neutral, but as much as 5 mph and it will not start. Not only that, but once it has gone that speed, it won't start in neutral even when I've braked to a dead stop. It has to go back to park to start. Does anybody have any idea what I need to be looking for? The Chilton book didn't give me any idea.

Do you mean it won't crank, or it won't fire up?

It won't even crank. There has to be an override somewhere.

I'm just guessing here but it sounds like the car is using a VSS signal to disable the starter while its in motion via the neutral safety switch. The easy fix for this would be to run a wire from the starter wire at the ign switch (thick yellow wire) straight to the solenoid (fused at the connection made at the ign switch for safety). Keep in mind that this will effectively disable the netural safety switch on the vehicle and will then allow it to start in gear so do that at your own risk.
