Carbike from Poland

Yesterday I saw this in the news and googled, but found almost nothing. Here's what I have:
A guy from Kalisz, Poland has been making enclosed recumbant 3-wheeled bikes for the last 30 years, and has been exporting them to Western Europe for the last 3 years.

This is similar to the "Infinite MPG" truck.

It looks like a very nice product. I'm sure Darin wants one. :)

Of course he wants one: It looks almost like a kayak, doesn't it? :p

That guy in the background- can he go faster/farther than the carbike?

That reminds me of another member's avatar on here... it's a velobike, I think?

Nice, regardless.

I want.

RobertSmalls 11-05-2009 07:02 AM

I met a guy riding one of these around town. It has a higher top speed than a bicycle, and it's much more comfortable in poor weather.

I want one, but when you can get an Insight for almost the same price, it's not a high priority.

Velomobubble of course ;) Not really: Velomobile (US) or velomobiel (Europe)

Mine is the one photographed with a few hundred stickers here:

I am impressed to hear this was even attempted in Poland- looks pretty well finished! That is the country that made a recumbent trike out of an old chaise lounge!

That Clownfish velo looks sweet. Am I correct that the white stripes are reflective, or is that just an image issue?

I have no idea! I was admiring that velo, and when I showed a friend- "AHA! There is Nemo!" Confused, I looked up 'Nemo' and the movie fish cartoon popped up and my jaw dropped. Talk about feeling stupid!

Those photos are velos from around the world so I just posted on someone else's collection like everyone else was and no one complained!

I would very much like to know more about this one.......

It seems similar to the old PPV rental vehicles; but the entire body and steering mechanics was different. That is NOT a PPV, just almost the same side-y-side socialable tandem trike. I had one of the early PPVs that was rented here in the US and it barely reached 10 mph since it was so heavy. Too wide for much use for me. I rode it in a parade then sold it. ut a Yahoo! group about PPVs is still very active I think.

Great bunch of photos. I just cannot avoid the camera- what a terrific surprise to see myself!

It looks very much like someone has updated the PPV concept though.....

PPV, Three (3) Wheel Recumbent Trike, Alternative Transportation, Velomobile

Waaaaaay out of my price range, but certainly possible for the creative home builder to build something like it :D

NachtRitter 08-05-2010 10:09 PM

For home building, there's a (digital) TON of great information at the MARS site...

EXCELLENT! Someone shared that link a few years ago, but when I looked for it later it was gone and no one saved it. Our town had 3 PPVs in the early 1970s (mine was one, but the body disintegrated years ago), and I would like them to try again using this ad to let them know it is a new vehicle and not restored.
