"Cars are cheaper in England"--Shouty?

Who cares what Shouty says? I just want to know if it is true. I do not have any idea what sites are most popular over there, but the first one that came up for me is Motors.co.uk.

What do I know? Hondas, like this 1998 Civics!

Today I learned that England is an alternate reality.
99,000 miles(?!), 31 MPG, and £850. Opera informs me that is $1,107.55 in real money. I do not have any idea how much that is out the door, although it says there is a £265 Road Tax ($345.29).

Someone remind me again that we need to go metric because civilized countries did that year ago? Does it make sense that I am complaining about dang foreigners using the measurements that I understand the best in their own country?

What do I know about Imperial miles? A bit over 100,000 U.S. miles and a bit less than 31 MPG. I do not mind going back and forth between U.S. Imperial and metric, U.S. Imperial and U.K. Imperial?

Anyway, I found two 1999 Civics for sale in the Phoenix area, but for $1,500, with 200,000 miles, and like the British one, also autotragics.

Not quite as pretty, though.

So, I still do not know how much that hatchback would cost out the door, but prettier, with a little over half the miles, for around the same price, but from a dealership?

Shouty claims that Kelley and N.A.D.A. are scams, due to who owns them.

What is the real reason?

They are cheaper because everything else auto motive related is so expensive.

The car is probably the least expensive part of driving over there. It reduces their value.
