Cars.com says free car fax report but demands money, why?
 

Just curious what the deal is, it used to be some car dealers prepaid for a car fax report on cars and you could see a basic report as apart of the listing

Now when it says that it’s just a scam demanding money, why the change?

And why can they say free report when you have to pay?

I'm doing some car shopping (might ditch the TDI) and the free carfax clicks through fine on cars.com for me.

Strange, I went back to the EXACT SAME LISTING and I no longer get a nag screen on carfax.
