Cautiously Optimistic Fuel Mileage (increased tire PSI & adding electric cooling fan)
Ater inflating the tires on my truck to 44psi and installing an electric fan, my fuel mileage has increased from 20.5 mpg to 24 mpg. I will check on my next fill up as my A/C is on full time as temperatures are mid 80's now.

Good job! King cab? I have owned two Nissan trucks, neither one seemed to do well on mileage. I did own a 87 Toyota regular cab with a 4-speed manual shift( not 5speed. Base model truck) that got 30 mpg. & friends that had the Mazda B2000 mid80's truck that claim to get 30's. Have not heard of ANY trucks getting 30's since then.
My 1997 un modded f150 v6 automatic can get lower 20's so I couldn't see a reason to buy a smaller truck. |
were you able to remove a fan belt w/ that conversion?

In 2006 I picked up about 2mpg on the highway when I switched my suburban to electric fans. Its a good ecomod.

Yes it is a KC. My unmodded 2000 F150 only got 15 mpg on the 5.4 auto. :( |

I wanted to do the pulley delete but the electric water pump was cost-prohibited. |

I think you would be better off with an alt delete. The electric coolat pump and alt delete don't go together real well. |

I've had success with an e-fan conversion. Volvo 240, a 3000 lb. boxy wagon with 115 hp engine so any load removed from the engine was a real help. I had that auto-tranny beast up around 29-30 mpg in summer; the EPA said 19 mpg. And at a local car show, I saw a guy with Shelby Cobra (I think it was a conversion/kit car... ). He had a couple e-fans switched the same as mine: Temp switch in the lower hose (return). We both agreed that's the only way to go unless your computer has an output to drive the fan. |

(I have removed some stuff since then, so its a few hundred pounds lighter) I have another solar panel to add that would make an alt delete good at least for driving to work. |
I made that modification of removing the engine-driven fan and replacing it with an electric fan on my 1988 Ford Thunderbird 5.0 and it made absolutely no noticeable difference.
None. I had done it mostly to get that slight increase in power but I didn't notice a FE difference either. |
