Centaur II Hybrid
2 Attachment(s)
1978 Hydricon Centaur II at the Petersen Automotive Museum in LA today. Signage says it was powered by two small electric motors plus the Honda 600 air-cooled gasoline engine. It was based on that Honda in general, apparently. Capable of 70mph at 30mpg. Sorry for the crumby cell phone shot. If I get a better one of my students, I'll post that one too.
[EDIT: just added the Lohner-Porche 1902 "mixed-drive" gas/electric hybrid race car. It won the Exelberg Hill Climb race, according to the Petersen Museum.] |
Cool pics !
Shame it took 20yrs to make it to production. The 1902 Porsche really shows it was viable 100yrs ago. |
