Spam. Don't bother.

suspectnumber961 08-02-2014 08:38 AM

A simple understanding is no understanding at all?

Frank Lee 08-02-2014 09:07 AM

What are you talking about? Gas is already too cheap.

suspectnumber961 08-02-2014 09:36 AM

I'm sure there have been other posts on syngas...but WHAT IF this info is true?

The oil companies will have a fit....and try to stop it in it's tracks....and there are obvious tax implications as far as gas taxes.

They kill for oil....food...water, etc.

I know some think gas prices in the US should be more in line with those in the EU for instance...but what you think and want isn't always what you get?

Looks like a good way to encourage consumption and global warming. Which we all know is a left-wing conspracy designed to hurt the capitalists...girls just want to make money?

What I think and want are almost never what I get. :/

I think I'M the alien looking in at humanity... and not quite getting what I'm seeing.

Not quite getting it? I'm baffled.

suspectnumber961 08-02-2014 12:57 PM

I'm not gettin' any either! Damned human females....:D

They can be frustratingly perceptive.

jcp123 08-07-2014 06:59 PM

I got gas today for $2,77/g.

Cobb 08-07-2014 08:29 PM

Looks like shell is running a promotion where you can save 25 cents a gallon by joining their club. Otherwise Sheetz is the cheapest with their membership card.

You mean human females can tell I'm an alien? I guess my pre-insertion training was inadequate.

Though...unlike many human males....I do not pretend to not understand women.

I got gas recently for around $3.24 per G...at a station apparently run by human females....beleive it not.

Looks like a scam, sounds like a scam, and smells like a scam. Listened to the whole hour (or it seemed like), and in the end, he's trying to get you to subscribe to his newsletter. THEN you'll get the super-secret report divulging this company that's gonna make all their investors rich.

Yeah, right!! Think I'll stick with an alternator powered, on-board hydrogen generator...... NOT!!!!

Are we talking about the oil companies that already spend millions on researching and producing syngas?

Why squelch a new technology when you can simply buy it out, mass produce it, and sell it at twice the profit as the gunk everyone else is selling?

I listened to about 10 minutes of the pitch, then did some googling. With the rising availability and falling price of natural gas from fracking, many companies have announced plans for various plants to make methanol, ethylene and polyethylene, and other products, mostly around the Gulf coast in LA and TX. According to the most recent article on this in the American Chemical Society news magazine, if they are all built the construction costs will be about $100 billion, but many are just announcements to test the investor and competition waters and will never materialize. Anyway, a company called ZeoGas (ZeoGas LLC) has licensed natural gas to methanol technology from Air Liquide, and methanol to gasoline technology from ExxonMobil, and is planning a 16,000 barrel per day gasoline plant, so that matches up with the numbers in the sales pitch link. They are an LLC so no stock available, so maybe the sales pitch in the newsletter will be to wait for an IPO? Couldn't find any economic analysis so can't confirm that part, but Exxon developed the methanol to gasoline tech back in the 80's and there has been a 14,500 barrel per day plant operating in New Zealand since 1985 so there shouldn't be any surprises. I'm not an economist but since they will be a small part of the total volume to me it makes the most sense to price their product just a tad under the current market price, so they guarantee that they sell their full production volume. Any cheaper and they just leave profit on the table, so I doubt the result will be any substantial price drop for us consumers. I think the price will still be driven by the price of oil which is mostly driven by world fears :-).

wmjinman 08-10-2014 02:32 AM

Right. Unless a LOT more of this natural gas conversion starts happening, but still - why would they voluntarily sell if for WAY below the competition (petroleum based gas) unless multiple natural gas conversion outfits start competing with each other or something like that?

You go first then, along with your supporter - remember every single extra child is killing the planet.

No ?

Thought not.

Hypocrites.

EDIT - I can add that to Onarist and Muppet for future postings. Yeah I really think you are all of these.

Didn't we go through this already?

Arragonis 08-13-2014 03:14 PM

Yep. Amazing it still comes up really.

Frank Lee 08-13-2014 03:27 PM

Well then get over it.

That the data and rationale presented are not in your favor. That the facts haven't yet penetrated your defenses is on you.
