Cheap GPS?

Was interested in finding a cheap, reliable gps. Since I mostly do city driving, I want to find the shortest route for better mpg !!!

please reply with suggestions

Certain Garmin devices can be upgraded with an EcoRoute option. Unfortunately, my unit (250W) is not compatible, so I haven't tested it. I've heard it's not very accurate, but may help in certain situations.

The cheapest way to measure distances is Google Maps, but it doesn't take into account stop signs, traffic lights, and hills.

there's some chinese GPS in ebay that have or can be upgraded to VERY good software like Igo8...

I use it for when I don't know where I'm going aside form that, GPS can't calculate traffic jams (unless you get the traffic thingy accesory for extra) mpg for elevation differences or BEST mpg route (like the partner piwolaw mentioned with ecoroute)

igo8, 5 inches, 4gb inside 79$ shipped
that's a great deal even if you buy 2010 maps afterwards from a webpage for an igo device

I've been looking at the Garmin 265wt at costco for 139. It has the traffic updates via radio.

NAVTEQ is the website showing which traffic areas are monitored and sent to the 265wt.

Just a hunch...good luck.

Thanks for the input everyone, just trying to get as much miles out of my car that I can. This also helps with my sense of failing sense of direction.

Radioshack sells Mio GPS's, I just got one its the R303, and it works better than my parents garmin nuvi, and it cost 79 or 89 bucks. We recently went to kentucky again and where the nuvi was as lost as we were the last time down, the mio was right on and knew right where to go.. doesn't have a mpg feature but worth looking into for the price!
