Start cutting and tweaking 6061 -T6 aluminum angles, a couple of 4'x8' sheets of clear lexan and a box of Rivnuts. Medium-toothed band/jigsaw blades, so you don't clog up.

That may be too steep for reattachment as Big Dave suggests. (Tufts would be wicked easy to do given transparency.) Regardless, it beats open bed, and cannot be worse than flat tonneau. Looks like good bang for the buck to me. ABA data would be the icing.
