Chinese cars used to be like this

That's a Chery Cowin, basically a very crude copy of the early SEAT Toledo.

Honestly, 10 years later that was all that would come through my mind whenever I heard something about Chinese automakers, and now they're becoming kinda competitive.

BTW one feature that I actually liked is the rear hatch, even though it looked like a regular sedan.

fusion210 02-08-2019 09:33 PM

Wow, that hatch is pretty cool.

redpoint5 02-08-2019 10:09 PM

Tesla could have had a nice hatchback looking like a sedan if it weren't for their dumb glass roof. The only time I have occasion to see what's out the roof is when the car is laying on its side, in which case, I've got much worse problems.

How China was sucessfull despite be a comunist country?
Okay that it's not comunist as it was in the past, now with more freedon and captalist in life style, but still rulled by government. But even sp have some comunist ideal.

I presume it's because they acted like captalism in dealing with ecnomy in the international market. And they have authority over their people, slaved somehow people, even exaustive and with low humanism, to pull the economy to high levels. The secrete was low workmanship, os "slavemanship", making hinese prducts competitive duem very low price.
They get money for education, for industry, after many years selling second class imitations, but now they have technology and even dome industry to quality manufacture.

Despite they began as comunist they reached something very different from leftwing.

That's somewhat misterious. But maybe we can relate it to the so-called economic growth of interwar Germany during the 3rd Reich. There is still some high degree of povertry in the Chinese countryside anyway...

In rural areas I presume they are poor. But in terms of nutrition... I don't know... Nutrition it's one of the key factor for I.Q development, and chinese people among japonese are the people with higher general I.Q (I.Q of overal population).
Only jewish people have higher average I.Q, but as they are very spread around the world they are not take in this calculation, I presume.

Maybe even poor chineses have government's help for food and medicine to keep good nutrition during early days to adolthood.

Jewish are strong, in bussines and in I.Q (specially ashkenazi jews) due the prejudice they suffered. In middle age (i think) or around it, they couldn't have land, but was allowed to lend money. So they developed a culture and ability for this.
The smarter jews had better works, and had more money, and used to have more chances of survive and had their kids to survive too.
All that worked as a natural sellection, making the genes of higher intelligence to be more often passed through generations.

But China is not a Communist country, even if they keep the name for face-saving reasons. When they were actually Communist, there was widespread starvation. When they abandoned Communism, they started to prosper.

They keep a socialist social politic in some degree.
But they value the better and most creative peroson, and have a industry that uses it. That's why they got strong.
The semi-slave work hours also was a key factor, maybe the most relevant, to the economic growth

And also, when it comes to building something new they just buy it elsewhere and copy it ( look at their cars, their phones, their cosmetic, their clothes, etc )
When you do not need to put billions in your R&D department it really helps speed up the process

Does that happen a lot?

President Richard Nixon.

He opened the door. Every US President since, save the current one, operated on the assumption that economics is upstream of politics. China is currently being curb-stomped. If the CCP were removed, the Chinese could be successful again. Like Taiwan is and Kong Kong was. If you are looking for a successful communist country, that is Việt Nam.
