Civic Hx 98 >500 miles per tank in freeway.

hi to everybody.
I have like 3 months with my Hx 98'. it's my tripping car. I only drove with this car in freeways

since i bought it, I changed:
Oil 20w50 to 10w30 syntethic
Ngk oem spec Sparkplugs
New thermostat (the old one doesn't work because my temp gauge it never moves from Cold) Now, always the needle its in 1/4.

45psi in every tyre.

Aem short Ram intake (the car comes with it, i dont know if this helps to the FE)

Since I replace the thermostat, i can drive >500 miles per tank. The last read was like 530 miles.
I dont have a scan gauge or something.
I fill it with 11 gallons, so its almost 45-48mpg.

My average speed is 60-70mph.

I want to reach to 50 mpg. What do you think?

drop that speed to 60-65, add a grill block, and you will be there.

Has to be. HX came only as a coupe, not available as hatchback. But then, i see the OP is in Mexico. I'm pretty sure all HX were coupes but internationally... just MAYBE there was a hatch offered somewhere.

How much will a cold air intake increase the gas mileage by? I'm trying my best to keep the car all stock because I don't want it to be seen as a ricer with a Folgers exhaust or a cheap CAI or anything... Thanks!

hello again.

Yes , im from mexico but my hx its from California. (50 states version)

last updates:

Obd2 elm237 bluetooth

Torque app in my android tablet (best add)

I want to bought the oem black air box and replace the AEM short ram intake because in a forum I read that its better the black air box for FE.

in my city the temp its about 100-120 F. So i think that in July I will put a 10w40 or 50 synthetic oil.

The FE drops to like 400-450miles per tank :(

Honda were ahead of their time.

I beat / give a good challenge to all kinds of turbo diesels in the uk
And most of these cars are a few years old.

Then when finished I get near / better mpg than them in a car that costs roughly a months wages. Pure win

Yes, RAM intake isn't very helpful for FE from what I've read around here. Many users here would actually recommend adding a warm air intake as opposed to CAI for FE purposes. Warmer air causes the engine mixture to run leaner, which leads to less fuel usage, I believe is the theory behind it.

As long as you're using synthetic, I'd keep it at 10w30 (or whatever the lowest manufacturer recommended is). Synthetic oil is more durable in extreme temperatures than standard oil.
