Civic HX Lean Burn - Skip Shifts

Skipping fourth gear just might be my biggest d'oh/aha/duh moment.

3K shifts into second, third, and then into fifth. The engine hits the right rev point, and with the longer shift motion the lean burn wuuuuh is audible, then the glide …

I dream about a running on a track where I could test this repeatedly to gauge the benefit. Run up to 50 10X through all the gears, then do it again 10x, skipping fourth.

I shift at 2K. :)

I don't have LB or anything like that, but my best tank was recorded shifting 1-3-5 at 3K rpm. The second tank using the same method wasn't as good, but the third (current) tank is looking good.

Since I P&G EOC a lot, I figure if nothing else it helps reduce wear on the various shifting components.
