THAT was funny!

I actually knew a guy who had the ear of Nissan execs back in the 90's when the 300 was coming out. He was a race driver/instructor and spent a fair amount of time in the pre-production 300's.

He told the powers that be that a narrower width tire would have made it more enjoyable to drive in a wider range of conditions. At least I think that's what he said...

Top Gear's Clarkson came to the same conclusion while testing Toyota's/Subaru's new sporty car. He actually praised the narrow LRR tires that come standard.

Also, this is the concept behind the gocart racing on talc powder.

That video was awesome!

I was driving on a doughnut today to get to the tire shop--had a ghastly puncture and needed new tires anyway (side note: 4 new Bridgestone Ecopias!)... I guess I should have tried to floor it in the corners. By the logic of this video, I could have increased my horsepower by a good bit.

Maybe that extra horsepower would offset my Ecomodder decal and put me back where I was before I added it?

Love that guy and his reviews. Most of them are some form of sideways.

Harris' work is always fun. Been reading his articles and watching his vids since he was in Autocar... he's moved several times since then.

More grip never makes for more fun. Some of the best times I've had on the road and track have been in cars with 155-175mm wide tires. Just pump the beejesus out of them to firm up the sidewalls and you're off and sideways.

... assuming you don't have a FWD car, you know the ones that can't steer by using your right foot.

for FWD i would put skinny on the rear and stock up front.
