Clutch Vs Clutchless

All know issues with downshifting Clutchless.

Hey engineers, do you think we can make controller work Clutchless with the button on the gear shifter?

It has been done on AC controller:

it was sorta done there, looks like it is just a 1000 rpm command with that button, and not a full fledged shift synch. i.e. a button/combination of buttons/gate switches to tell it which gear you want next and it knows the speed of the car and the gear ratios and quickly brings the motor rpm to that speed. But yah that would make going clutchless a lot easier.

I think a rapid motor slowdown button would also help, but requires some driver skill on synching.

I don't have any problems with clutchless downshifting on the bmw. My guess would be it depends on the gearbox. The getrag is supposed to be good and so far i'm not disapointed. The procedure is use i , off pedal , neutral , then push the shifter into the required gate with moderate pressure. the synchros do their job and it slips into gear. Granted it requires a little more time and effort than a clutch system but with so few shifts required .............. just my 2c. :)

Never had a problem just using my foot on the gas adjusted incrimentally by my brain :P

do it in diesel polos, formula ford race cars, Mercedes sprinter vans and everything between - even managed it on a in a non-syncho 50's morris!

you have all the tech at hand you don't need to add more

Hey guys,

The reason I think it may be a good idea that would be easy to drive for the person without “clutchless” EV experience. It would be close to driving a clutch.

Let say what if we want to sell EV ... Sorry to even say that :-)
