Coming from the other site

This is my first post on this site. I'm coming from the other site which I will not mention. I see a lot of members from that site here. I'm not switching, but I will be an active member on both. I drive an 06 Dodge Grand Caravan with a partial grill block. I hope I can bring some new ideas for people that drive bigger vehicles such as vans. Thanks for having me here.

Hi popimp - welcome to EM!

No body say the secret word!

Hey popimp, welcome to "Around."

popimp -

Welcome to EM! I think both sites have merit, so your posting POV makes sense to me.

Welcome popimp. Glad your here. Where you located and what's the commute like?

popimp 12-19-2007 09:52 PM

Located at Travis AFB (Fairfield, CA) Commute is a 3/4 mile walk.

Good to see ya!
My car also wasn't built primarily for economy.
But there are always things you can do, to do better than "average".

By the way, we drove an '86 Caravan for about 9 years before I got my first Volvo. 2.2 liter, 5-speed, got about 27 mpg highway!

Welcome

Good to see you here!

So has there been any talk on the other site about this one?

SVOboy 12-19-2007 11:12 PM

Don't think so, :p

RH77 12-19-2007 11:26 PM

Dunno, haven't checked :turtle:

Welcome Popimp.

Okay. I've been wondering for a while: why are we walking on eggshells when we mention 'the other site' here. Is there some sort of competition that's going on?

popimp 12-19-2007 11:44 PM

I'm not sure if there is or isn't but MetroMPG, SVOBoy, and DiamondLarry were pretty big contributors to the other site with thousands of posts. I'm just happy to be a part of both. I think this site is just going in a different direction, whatever that means.

DifferentPointofView 12-19-2007 11:55 PM

Hmm, Nice to see another actual moving wall on the site ^_^". If you have any good idea's on saving fuel for large vehicles, hit me up!

I think it's more out of civility and not wanting to start any sort of bashing. I know a tiny bit of the story behind it and it comes partially down to this site being run the way that the admins here want it to be.

All these forums are in competition to an extent, but then again, there isn't any reason that people can't be members of each forum and contribute to both.

I have my own website now that contains some of my information for Civic VXs. That in a small way contributes competition to the forums as well, but it's no big deal because I still contribute to all the forums that am a member of as well as adding the information to my website. The site is just a more convenient way of collaborating the information that I have.

This forum is going to be a bit more focused, in my opinion. The other forum was good but was becoming a bit muddled, again, in my opinion.

And to keep this thread on topic:

Welcome to the board! :)

Hi All, This is my first post. Only 9 more to go. Great site, lots of good stuff. Can't wait to start building a controller.
