Commercial Aero pick-up bed covers by some Italians (Orciari)

Did not know where to stick this, but here is a company in Italy that do Aerodynamic caps for a number of pick-ups, albeit more for the European market and not all that cheap, but well executed.

Nice find.

I like their Mitsu design: tapered in profile AND plan, and it looks like it follows a reasonable curve. Pretty too.

There's a Nissan too. Think this one may have come up on the forum before.... The design isn't as aero (no plan taper), but more volume underneath:

I always thought that Nissan cover was OEM, I see a lot of them here.

Nice, but do they sell cut down truck beds that are tapered in plan, to match the caps? How about something to make the track width match the body width, and tires with enough sidewall to get you to the photo op without breaking a wheel?

Don't get me wrong, it's the best bed topper I've ever seen, it's just that the rest of the truck leaves much to be desired.

If I were designing a truck from the ground up for utility and aerodynamics... well, let's just say it would look like one of these mated with a first-gen Insight:

GM also used this Jaray roof on the 1963 Corvette Stingray. There is a photograph of model testing for that car at Cal Tech's Guggenheim tunnel and from the ink-blot traces it looks very 'clean.':)

On the Riv all that glass was hell on weight and A/C loads. It was an instant ghetto classic cruiser as well. I think the US supply of metal-flake paint about disappeared onto the boat-tail Riviera by 1979. :D
